Assignment #16: Strengthening Film Titles.

After our first few opening sequences, it was obvious that we were weak where titles were concerned. We were set the task of looking at opening sequences and noting the particular times when certain names came on screen, and this also helped us to have better title placement.

Transitions In Film And Television.

We failed to use any transitions in the first draft of our opening sequence, so I looked on YouTube for any videos that explain the importance of transitions and what transitions are appropriate where.

Reflection On Our First Draft.

I think our first draft was quite good, as other than the preliminary, none of us have had any good practise at filming something and editing it.Also, filming this was a big challenge, as for the first day of filming it was just myself and Gledis. And for the second day of filming we had Vera too. Because of this, I think we did really well to film as much as we did. I was really pleased with the audience feedback we got (see images below), on the Facebook post I made, as it showed that we were heading down the right track and already, people enjoyed what we have to offer. I hope that for the future drafts, we improve on this and can really scare our audience (which is our main aim). The only part of this draft that I'm disappointed with is the length of it, as this brought our grade down a significant amount as it was more like a short film than an opening sequence.

Editing

Editing on iMovie isn't as complicated as I thought it would be, and it was actually quite fun seeing a long clip created from short clips :)
I watched this (see below) , as well as being shown by my teacher to edit properly.

My Thoughts On Our Preliminary:

I didn't realise how hard it is for actors till I acted in our preliminary. I found from this that I don't really enjoy acting much, and that I'd rather have more of a chance to film. It was fun editing it together though, as I think our match on action worked really well and we properly followed the 180 degree rule (even though its quite confusing!)

First day of filming!

Today we started filming for our opening sequence, its fun, but is so far quite challenging, as we have to think about how it will look once its edited together also. It was harder to film today, as two of our group members were unable to come, so we (me and Gledis)  filmed as much as we could film without them and took a few pictures in the process:

Filming.. It looks so creepy on camera!

Me sorting out the camera :)
The trickiest prop to use was probably my personal camera, as we have to keep on making sure it looks okay as Gledis is using it. After our first day of filming, I can't wait to continue next week, as although it was challenging, it was really fun.
