4.3.2.1 - Films in class/ Film club

Title: 4.3.2.1                          Genre: Drama

Today in class I watched 4.3.2.1. It is about a group of four friends and how they are inadvertantly involved in the worlds biggest diamond heist. The film follows through how each of them spend two days after the diamonds are stolen and what happens to each of them within those two days.

From this film I learned about linear and non-linear narrative. In this film, it starts off as linear narrative and then spilts into non-linear narrative as each of them go through two days.

From the film I was inspired by the way of filming. Although it sounds complex, the way it was layed out gave an detailed exaplanation of what happened to each character and as you go through, you see things from their point of view. I really liked this idea but I doubt I will use it when I come to make my own opening sequence.

Assignment #7: Self Assessment.

ASSESMENT OF ASSIGNMENT 7 : Narrative And Film Theory.
Self Assessment:
In this assignment, I think WWW was…
- I had a variety of films to explain the film theories.
- I researched and extracted the correct information for each slide.

In this assignment, it would have been EBI...
- If I'd done some deeper research into the different theories before making my slides on them as this would've given me a deeper understanding of them.
Record of Grade:
In this assignment I would have graded myself with a grade D because although I had relevant information, I didn't fully understand each film theory and didn't complete binary opposition.  I received a grade ___.
Targets to improve:
To improve on this assignment I need to find out what binary opposition actually is. And find examples of it.

Assignment #6: Self Assessment.

ASSESMENT OF ASSIGNMENT 6 : Opening Sequence Analysis.
Self Assessment:
In this assignment, I think WWW was…
- I analysed a wide range of films
- I had correct, detailed information on each slide

In this assignment, it would have been EBI...
- If I used more images to support the analysis I'd made of each opening sequence.

Record of Grade:
In this assignment I would have graded myself with a grade C because I didn't include enough images to support the points I made. I received a grade ___.
Targets to improve:
To improve on this assignment I need to separate the information in a more efficient way and use images to support each point I made about the opening sequences.

Current Grade (October)

My target grade is B.  My current grade is B- . To improve my next grade I need to add more visuals, make my presentations with a little bit more information on the slides and to explain things better whilst presenting.

What assignment did you do the best? Why?

I did the best in Assignment 3 - Genre Interest. I did the best in this because I had a variety of clips, I used a new presentation editor (Prezi) which made my assignment fun and exciting, I also had pictures to back up the points I made and the presentation was relatively easy to follow.

What assignment did you do the worst? Why?
I did the worst in Assignment 2 - Coursework Analysis. I think I didn't do that well in this assignment because my slides were informative but I didn't have images or many screen shots to back up the points I made. It wasn't clearly labelled either and some parts of it were hard for my teacher and peers to read because the text colour was the same as the background.

How are your grades for all the assignments against your target grade?

So far, I mostly seem to be just about reaching my target grade excusing the second assignment which I currently think is quite good.

What do you need to do to improve to get to (or above) your target grade?

I think to improve, I need to watch a wider variety of films so I'm able to push for an A grade in my assessments. I also need to sometimes be briefer as long chunks of text aren't spectacularly interesting and it makes me want to read from the board, when I should be focusing on how I talk to my audience and how well I explain things.

Assignment #5: Self Assessment

For this assignment, I think I did a good job. I had labelled images with why I found the scenes inspirational and I feel that my presentation was very appealing visually with the use of the differen fonts for the different films.

The teacher feedback I received:

For this assignment, I received a B-, which I think is a good grade that I'm satisfied with.
To improve, I could:
  • Use films within the same genre instead of using films from different genres.
  • Be more specific about why I found them inspirational.
